History

AssetSmart was founded in 1971, a landmark year in computing with the first release of both the microprocessor and the floppy disk. Our founder, Phillip Chase, received a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Nebraska, an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and served as a Naval Officer in the Korean War before founding his own Asset Management Software Company. Sadly, Mr. Chase passed away in 2024, but he is survived by his four children, many grandchildren, and his innovative COTS property management system of record that continues to evolve and serve the asset management community.

Since its inception, AssetSmart has remained a family-owned independent business. Mr. Chase’s son-in-law, Christopher Campbell, first joined as a young cataloger over 30 years ago. He has held the position of President and CEO of AssetSmart since 2004 and now manages all aspects of the business.
